Shuttle Discovery Runs Into Bad Weather

By Chad Stroh

The Space Shuttle Discovery is expected to return sometime Friday. Bad weather has been causing trouble for NASA and Discovery. The shuttle has an option to land at three locations. The Kennedy Space Center in Florida, The Edwards Air Force Base in California and The White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico. Clouds and Rain in Florida made NASA find other options. Trade winds at Edwards Air Force Base forced NASA to look into the option of White Sands. People worry that White Sands may be too outdated for a Shuttle Landing. It is generally used for practice landings. If the shuttle lands in at Edwards, it will take up to two weeks to get the shuttle back to Florida for preparation of it's next flight. It would take about two weeks from New Mexico. NASA announced that Discovery is safe to return Thursday afternoon.
