Tips On Time Management

By Chad Stroh

Time management is one of the hardest things to master. For some people it comes easy and for others it can be very difficult. It all matters on how motivated you are to get things done. The first step you need to take in having effective time management is setting your priorities straight. Once you know what needs to be done and how much time you have to do it, it will make the process easier. Most people know what needs to be done, but the problem comes when you need to turn your thoughts into actions. Thier are many factors that go into whether or not your thoughts will be turned into actions. It's all about economics. If I do this, will my future become easier or harder. Too many people live in the moment, thinking that some things can wait. Procrastinating usually stems from this ideology. Sometimes it is just plain laziness.

Sometimes people need tools to help them manage time. Ask yourself what your tools are? Your tool may be an organizer, PDA, laptop, notebook or it may even be writing things down on your hand. Once you know what works best for you, use it! By not doing things throughout your day, you are essentially not living your life. Set goals and use your time managment skills to achieve those goals. By doing this you can achieve things you want to do with your life and you will find the life is not as hard as it may seem!

My Respect For Sports

By Chad Stroh

As I just finished intramural basketball, I am reflecting on why I love being on a team and how great team sports are for our culture. I was talking to some people from South Korea about the differences between high schools and universities in America compared to those in South Korea. They told me the almost all of the High Schools and Universities don't have school sports or intramurals. They told me that the focus was very much on education. I disagree with this ideology very much. Some of the most educational times in my life have been from being on several different teams. I have grown friendships and broke the boundaries of culture. I have met people that I probably would have never talked to, simply because we share a common bond for the love of a sport. That is a life lesson that can't be taught in schools. This unorganized intramurals team I have been on in the last two weeks has been one of the best teams I have ever been on. The team was called "Individuals" because it was people who signed up in groups of one or two people, but the team was anything but individuals. We made it to the championship game and lost. As I continue to play sports I learn lessons about life, friendship and myself. This is a lot like life. It doesnt matter where you end up, just how you got there.
