Discovery Of a New Dinosaur

By Chad Stroh

In Europe, fossils have been extracted of a new dinosaur. The fossils were found in Spain. The new dinosaur named the sauro pod or Turiasaurus riodevenisis. The name Turiasaurus riodevenisis rooted because the dinosaur lived in an area named Teruel, which is now modern day Spain. The dinosaur lived in the late Jurassic period about 150 million years ago. The dinosaur was very large compared to other dinosaurs found in this area. The sauro pod is estimated to weigh as heavy as 48 tons. The bones were found by the Joint Paleontology Foundation Teruel-Dinopolis. The team was led by Rafael Royo-Torres.
